Orbic Myra 5G Smartphone Review

A great phone doesn’t have to break the bank. With the Orbic Myra 5G Smartphone, you get a mixture of performance and style that’s still surprisingly affordable. Plus, it runs on Verizon’s 5G network, letting you enjoy faster speeds. I had the pleasure of testing out this Orbic smartphone myself to see how well it works.

Overview of Features

There’s no denying that there are many competing smartphones on the market right now. However, many of the more affordable devices also skimp heavily on the features. The Orbic Myra 5G Smartphone isn’t one of those phones. Instead, it gives you the features you need without a lot of the fluff that just raises the price.

The 6.8-inch TFT 2D scratch-resistant display is the perfect size for a smartphone without seeming overly large. At just 6.7 oz, it’s not heavy and sits well in your hand. The 720 x 1600 HD+ display gives you a 60 Hz refresh rate for smoother video.

For a mid-range smartphone, the 5,000 mAh battery is impressive and offers up to 25 hours of use and up to 100 hours of standby. Actual screen time ranges to around 10 hours per charge.

The Orbic Myra features a USB-C charging port with Quick Charge 3.0 for faster charging. It can also charge wirelessly.

There’s plenty of room for most users already with 64 GB, but you can expand it up to 2 TB with a microSD card. Performance also isn’t an issue with 6 GB RAM and a 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G processor.

The 16 MP front camera and triple rear camera help you get the perfect shot. The triple rear includes 48 MP, 8 MP (wide), and 2 MP (depth) cameras. You can also shoot video up to 4K quality.

5G and 5G UW support is built in. You also get Android 11 out of the box. An auxiliary port is included for wired headphones. Plus, there’s a fingerprint scanner and facial recognition for added security.

In the Box

Immediately upon opening the Orbic Myra 5G Smartphone, I was impressed with how stylish it looked. It has a sturdy feel and build, making it feel like a much higher-end device.

A charger and charging cable, along with a SIM tool and the usual getting started manuals, are included. It was nice to see a fabric coated cable, which tends to last longer and is easier to use in my opinion.

Getting Started

As with any new smartphone, you have to go through the setup process with the Orbic Myra 5G Smartphone. This includes getting connected to Verizon and Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 6 is supported), signing in to your Google account, and moving over any synced contacts, apps, and so on. I didn’t move over all my data for this review.

I had no issue getting everything set up, and the process went surprisingly fast. The screen is responsive and easy to see. In bright sunlight, it does get difficult to use, even on the brightest setting, but not impossible.

As you’d expect, it includes some of the standard Verizon bloatware but not quite as much as I was expecting. In fact, there was more on my last LG smartphone than the Orbic. However, it’s easy to remove anything you don’t want.

Of course, Verizon and Google’s standard apps are all already preinstalled, such as a messaging app, Google Drive, Google Photos, and more.

Look and Feel

While it feels slightly thicker than some more popular brands, it’s not bulky. Rounded edges give it a more high-end feel. The one thing you may notice right away is the raised camera lenses. While they stick out slightly, it’s not enough to be a concern.

Thanks to the glossy finish, the matte fingerprint scanner stands out well. The volume and power buttons are the only buttons on the device.

The display itself looks great outside of the larger bezels surrounding it, including the front camera bezel which eats away at the top of the screen. This is in stark contrast to the edge-to-edge design of many newer smartphones. However, it’s not a dealbreaker by any means.

I appreciate that adaptive brightness isn’t turned on by default. I personally like to adjust my brightness manually. However, it does adjust well on its own. Still, in brighter light, it is more difficult to see the screen, which may make taking photos out in the sun more difficult.

The only complaint is how easily the phone attracts fingerprints. The back quickly turns into a fingerprint collage. Of course, this is easy to fix with a case.

Overall Performance

From taking pictures and making calls to playing with apps, performance shouldn’t be an issue at all. I found the Orbic Myra 5G Smartphone to be incredibly responsive and able to keep up with streaming and playing games with no issues. This is performance you’d expect from a high-end device versus a more budget-friendly phone.

I found I could use any of my favorite apps and games with no lag. While I’m not a smartphone gamer, you shouldn’t have a problem playing the latest games on this device.

Taking Pictures and Video

Having a great camera on a smartphone is one of my top requirements, and the Orbic Myra 5G Smartphone doesn’t disappoint. It definitely doesn’t have a budget-friendly or even mid-range phone feel.

It’s quick and easy to switch between camera modes, and the photos and video look great. While you won’t find a ton of specialty camera modes on here, there are plenty to help you get started, including a manual mode. The built-in camera app includes pro, night, portrait, panorama, HDR, flash, AI scene recognition, facial recognition, beauty mode, and a QR scanner.

No, it’s not the most professional grade camera, but it’s a great balance of quality and price. Overall, I had a great time taking pictures both inside and outside.

Sound Quality

Out of everything I tested with the Orbic Myra 5G Smartphone, I was thoroughly impressed by how much it blew away my expectations. For the price, I did not expect such great performance.

However, the one area where the Orbic Myra falls short is the sound quality. There’s no real bass at all and everything sounds kind of bland. While you can definitely hear fine, especially with calls, music and ringtones sound terrible.

The bright side is that you have an auxiliary port and Bluetooth to get far better sound quality.

Battery Life

The area where the Orbic Myra 5G Smartphone really proved to be a contender is with battery life. With gaming and streaming, I still had around 70 percent of the battery left after a few hours. This is with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on, and the screen brightness was set at around 70.

So, this phone should last you throughout your normal workday. And, you might not even come close to a low battery warning with average use versus constant use, especially with a dimmer brightness setting.

Plus, this phone does charge quickly. You can get a full charge in less than 1.5 hours.

Final Thoughts

The Orbic Myra 5G Smartphone might be priced like a budget-friendly device, but it’s easily a contender in the mid-range area. In fact, it can rival higher-end phones in terms of battery life, and the performance is on par with the big names out there.

I loved how long the phone lasted between charges, and it was incredibly easy to use. While sound quality is an issue, it’s easy enough to live with. You could always use the money you save to get a good pair of wireless earbuds.
