But for those of us “seniors” who are not, these articles are really helpful. There’s no intuition or prior learning that lets me learn to use a smartphone and, being old, sick and isolated, no way to unlock its potential uses. I agree, all-inclusive generalizing about a group of people is rude, but is it offensive that help should be available to those who need it?

I don’t need news and email from it, I don’t need to order hamburgers from it, all I really want from it is the ability to call emergency services if I have a heart attack and it seems that becomes complicated with a smart phone. I find learning to operate new technology when my mind is clouded with pain, medication and fatigue to be a challenge. Calling 911 shouldn’t be.
