The system boots but halts at this script /etc/init.d/procfs. Why would it do that? One article says to add the procfs mount point to /etc/fstab. I don’t know if I believe that. So what do I do at this point? I am using the same kernel as in this article.

The font used in the screen shots is so small as to be almost unreadable.

Is there a reason why you did not setup a separate “/home” partition?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no “one page” version of the Gentoo Handbook that can be downloaded, printed and used as reference during the install process. As currently set up. it requires two computers to install Gentoo – one to refer to the Handbook and one for the actual install.
